In 2023, for my graduation from Gobelins, I was lucky to be the art director for one of the Annecy festival trailers about Mexico.
I worked on the layouts, colors, compositing, and I defined the graphic style of the movie.
I enjoyed it a lot, as our team made a lots of researches to be the most accurate possible about the beautiful city of Tenochtitlan.
I was very happy because it had amazing feedbacks, especially about the cultural aspect.
Our team put a lot of care in details and creating little side stories in each shot.
I created a graphic style that would pay homage to the historical archive about the city (flat perspectives, thick lines, bright colors) while accomodating the differents skills and tastes of my teammates, who had very different styles.
Thus, depending on the distance, the characters are going from semi-realistic, to cartoony designs, so everyone could have fun animating. This was a very interesting exercise.
